How to book a dentist in Fredrikstad when you don't speak Norwegian
You can book online, call or email, and you are welcome to contact us in English. No referral from a doctor is needed.
- Online: use the booking page. The booking system is in Norwegian, so look for "Bestill time" (book an appointment).
- Phone: call 69 16 75 00 if you need help today.
- Email: write to fredrikstad@flowtannhelse.no with your question in English.
Mention that you prefer English when you book. If you are nervous about dental visits, tell us that too: all dentists at Flow Tannhelse have training in treating dental anxiety, and extra time can be set aside for you ( more about dental anxiety care, in Norwegian). Please note that appointments cancelled or moved less than 48 hours in advance are charged a fee of NOK 350 per reserved half hour.
What a first visit costs, and what is included
A first visit for new patients costs NOK 695 (regular price NOK 1,330) and takes 60 minutes. It covers an exam, 2 x-rays, a 3D scan, cleaning, tartar removal and polishing. If anything needs treatment, you get a treatment plan with a cost estimate, and nothing starts before you say yes.
A typical first visit: The dentist asks about your dental history and any problems, then examines your teeth and gums. X-rays show cavities between the teeth and changes in the bone that cannot be seen by eye, and the 3D scan makes a digital model of your upper and lower jaw. Tartar is removed with an ultrasonic scaler, often behind the lower front teeth (region 33-43), before the teeth are polished.
You leave with clean teeth, an explanation of what the dentist found and, if needed, an estimate.
Common prices from the full price list(treatments are starting prices):
| Treatment | Price | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Exam and cleaning, new patients | NOK 695 | 60 minutes, weekdays. Regular price NOK 1,330. |
| Emergency visit | NOK 795 | Choose this if you need an appointment the same day. |
| Filling | from NOK 1,490 | Requires an exam with x-rays first. |
| Tooth extraction | from NOK 1,290 | Wisdom tooth removal from NOK 2,290. |
| Root canal treatment | from NOK 5,490 | Done under local anaesthetic. |
| Crown or bridge | from NOK 7,490 | Price includes the dental laboratory work. |
The new-patient price only applies if you are new to the clinic and attend at the agreed time, and it does not apply to emergency visits. The clinic does not send invoices. For larger treatment plans you can apply for interest-free instalments over 6 months through Svea Finans, subject to credit approval.
How dental care works in Norway for adults
Adults in Norway normally pay for dental care themselves, while children and young people are usually offered care through the county's public dental service.
Norwegian public reimbursement may apply for certain conditions, such as some gum diseases, injuries after an accident or specific medical conditions. The dentist will tell you during the exam if you qualify. Flow Tannhelse has direct settlement with Helfo, so you do not have to claim the money back yourself. The exam itself is not covered. You can read more about Helfo reimbursement at the dentist(in Norwegian).
The clinic also has direct settlement with NAV Fredrikstad for people who receive financial assistance.
Emergency dentist in Fredrikstad: same-day help
If you have severe toothache, a broken tooth, a lost crown or swelling, call 69 16 75 00 as early in the day as possible. Emergency cases are prioritised and the clinic tries to give you an appointment the same day. An emergency exam with 2 x-rays costs NOK 795, and you get a price estimate before any further treatment.
- Knocked-out tooth: keep the tooth in milk or salt water and call straight away.
- Swelling: put a cold compress on your cheek. Swelling can be a sign of infection that needs quick treatment.
